Selling stuff with an e-mail list is a very profitable thing to do, but many new online marketers think it’s too expensive to subscribe to an e-mail sender service so they never try to build their own list. But you can create your own list using a simple WordPress plugin and your own shared hosting account. The limit for a shared hosting account is usually 5000 subscribers and a 500 e-mail limit per hour, but if you can create a list of 5000 subscribers, I bet you can afford an account at Aweber or iContact etc.

Building a list is a very good way to protect your website from the Google panda, penguin or whatever fluffy names they give their updates. An update could decrease your ranking in the search engine and you will lose traffic and sales.
With a newsletter plugin, you can build your list almost for free and when you are ready for the next step, you can export your list and then import it to an e-mail sender service. I think this is the best way to start building a list because you will never have to worry about wasting any money. You already paid for your shared hosting and a $19.95 one-time fee for a newsletter plugin is actually very cheap for starting with e-mail marketing.
